While I was enjoying my day off today, I decided to kill some of my precious time on YouTube. I was checking out some Pet Shop Boys videos (I SWEAR I AM NOT GAY!!!) and I happened upon something I immediately liked. Now before I continue blabbering, I’ll just state that this instant fondness is as superficial as can be. In a matter of days, I will have forgotten all about it.
But right now, I’m in love with Isabelle Erkendal, singer for the tribute duo West End Girls.
Just look at that chick. Damn, she purty. The tall blonde looks pretty fucking sweet too. And they’re Swedish… which means they sing their Pet Shop Boys cover songs with a really cute accent.
And I am a sucker for sexy feminine voices. That’s one of the reasons I got into Ladytron. The voice on this Swedish chick is quite sexy indeed. The songs themselves are run-of-the-mill dance pop, and their familiarity to me makes listening to them all that much easier.
But like I said, the novelty for such things wears off fast. These girls released an album in 2005, and they haven’t had the interest necessary in their schtick to make another one. Also, the blonde chick left and was replaced by the hot chick’s cousin.
So check out some of their videos on YouTube if you like cute Swedish chicks singing fun dance-pop while they show minimal emotion and strut about the video set dressed in vinyl suits and brightly coloured hard hats.
