Lords of the Realm

Ah, Vegetation day.

Silly me… working hard all week.  I should have known better than to not be born to parents who are filthy fucking rich.

I spent today doing laundry and playing around with my Amiga emulator again.  Not so much actually playing, as still making “configuration files” that allow me to load the games I do have with all the right settings already made.

I got to the “L”s today, and spent a bit of time playing a game called “Lords of the Realm”.

Here are some screenshots:

I haven’t played this original version much, but I do play the sequel a lot.

That’s actually a scan I made myself of the CD cover.  It was uploaded by yours truly to Wikipedia back when I was a regular editor there.  Then it was deleted because it was a copyright violation.  Then it was re-uploaded in a smaller version, which isn’t a copyright violation.  Wikipedia is a weird place.

I play that sequel quite regularly… it usually takes up an entire day when I do.  Vegetation day of course.  Here are some screenshots of the sequel.  I didn’t make these myself, I just grabbed em off the net:

Makes me want to play that game tomorrow.

The music in the original is horrible and repetitive.  The music in LOTR2 is actually very good.     I even have the high-quality audio file from the CD edited together into a really nice song on my iPod.  It’s an acoustic guitar, flute and synth diddy.  Very medieval sounding, and one of the most relaxing pieces of music I know actually.  Funny how some video game music can be so damn good.

Check out the music in this YouTube video.
