Song of the Day – “The Sound of the Atom Splitting” by Pet Shop Boys

What a delightful little ditty!

This is about as experimental and “avant-garde” as this duo of gay dudes ever got.  And I’ve never actually written “avant-garde” before.  I had to look it up.  And now I’ve gone and used it twice in quick succession.

Can you dance to this?  Would you want to?  I’m not much of a dancer.  Me dancing probably looks like this:

I can’t take credit for that animated gif.  It doesn’t look animated on this blog, but if you click on it, you will see the glory.  Check out this website for some funny stuff.

Back to the song.  I don’t have anything interesting to say about it, I just think it’s neat.  Let’s make fun of Vanilla Ice some more.

Here is Jim Carrey making fun of Vanilla Ice on In Living Color.

GOD DAMN, what a funny man.  And Jim Carrey was pretty funny too.

So while we’re on the subject of electronically produced music, let’s talk about the Pet Shop Boys again.  I bought a bunch more of their albums… and now I have them all.  Still have to listen to the later ones because my ability to listen to music like this comes and goes.  Now, I’m in the mood mainly to listen to 70s Progressive Rock.  So I’m listening to all my Camel albums again.  There’s something about the combination of guitar, bass, organ and drums that produced a great sound all its own.

And most of the time, dance music just seems uninteresting to me.  Unless it’s plain odd and weird, like this song.  Which is cool.

EDIT: What a surprise!  WordPress can now handle animated GIFs!  Welcome to the 1990s, WordPress!  YO!  V.I.P.!
