“The Robots of Love” – one year later

It was 1 year ago today that I uploaded my comic “The Robots of Love” to FembotWiki.  And it was just over a year ago that I finished it.  My final lettering and final addition of “LEDs” to the faceoff scenes occurred just 30 minutes before 2009 started.

Of course, I can’t take credit for the whole thing.  The amount of work I did on it is minuscule compared to what the artist “Predator” and the colourist Simon Wright did.

My part was only to pay for the work, supply the script for Predator, and do the lettering.  I think I did a good enough job to do the work of the other two artists justice.  Looking at the whole thing again just makes me tremendously happy.

I only wish I could have made it longer.  This was a very expensive project, but any commissioned comic is expensive if it’s done by professionals.  And I don’t regret spending a single cent.  “The Robots of Love” is by far my favorite ASFR work.  I’m only more proud of the novel-length series of stories I wrote earlier.  I see that more of a personal accomplishment than as something incredibly sexy to enjoy.

The comic is, on the other hand instantly gratifying.  Especially page 12. :P

I was hoping that there would be more fembot-themed comic art work finding its way into the ASFR community.  I think there was talk about people pooling resources to commission a similar work, but as is so often the case, nothing materialized.

2010 is a new year though, and I still hope that there will be more fembots, more circuitry, and more ASFR in comic form in this year and the years to come.
